Michael Johnson

MSW, LSW
psychotherapist

I believe that personal growth and change come from understanding. There is no shortage of therapeutic approaches to building understanding, and the "right one" just depends on what works best for you. My style of therapy focuses on the person in context - you're an individual, so therapy should match your individual needs. I pull from different evidence-based modalities like CBT, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic theory, and mindfulness, to help you get where you want to go. By exploring your past and present, I hope we can work together to shape the future you want.

I enjoy working with LGBTQ+ individuals, people of color, older adults and anyone who is outside the dominant culture. As a queer man of color it is important for me to hold space for clients to combat shame through self-compassion. My work with clients has included identity exploration, addressing anxiety and depression, life transitions, and trauma.

I create a comfortable, safe, welcoming environment for you to explore the narrative of your life, while working towards who YOU want to be. Even if you're not certain who that is yet, I hope to work with you and figure it out together.
