Searching for a therapist can be a daunting task. There are endless acronyms and lofty language that can feel ethereal. Therapy with me should feel easeful, flowing, grounded and practical. I really just want to learn about *you.* Then, we can figure out where we'd like to go together. Some people have shared that I give Aunty vibes--we'll be able to move seamlessly through the laughs, joys and pains of life. My practice is rooted in mindfulness and creating a connection with our own bodies--a connection that has been systematically destroyed, especially for us QTBIPOC folks moving through this world.
I've spent years working with Black, Brown and Queer youth who lacked community and connection, building affinity groups where we could feel a sense of belonging. For Black and Brown Queer folks, we're often asked to choose sides or honor pieces of ourselves. My therapy room is a place to bring one's entire self for full, judgement-free acceptance.
The hour a week (or more!) that we spend together is sacred time. I would be honored to go on this journey of self-discovery with you. Know that we will navigate your various parts, experiences, cares and losses like handling the delicate roots of seedling. Therapy is not about changing oneself but about growth and acceptance. Let's find out what that means for you.
